  12.   Welcome to the Floppyshop catalogue for the Atari ST.  At Floppyshop we  aim
  13.   to bring you not only the largest Public Domain/Shareware catalogue but  the
  14.   best.  Hopefully you  will find this catalogue program easy  to use and will
  15.   enjoy using the disks you order from us. Please read this document carefully
  16.   as  it contains  information  which you  will require  in order  to make  to
  17.   correct selections from the catalogue.

  19.   What Is Public Domain?
  20.   ----------------------

  22.   Public Domain software is free software.   Our charges are in respect of our
  23.   services and no charge is made for the programs.  Anyone can place a program
  24.   in  the Public Domain.   In some cases these programs are free of  copyright
  25.   but  in others the original author retains copyright and places the  program
  26.   in the Public Domain subject to certain conditions.   These conditions  will
  27.   be in the form of a text file on disk.  Many Public Domain programs are of a
  28.   surprisingly  high  standard  although you should be prepared  to  accept  a
  29.   mixture as regards quality.   Public Domain programs usually have some  sort
  30.   of  documentation  in  the form of a text file on  disk  although  some  are
  31.   undocumented.   Public Domain programs are completely free and no payment to
  32.   the  author is necessary.   You may swap Public Domain software legally  but
  33.   must NOT charge for the software.

  35.   What Is Shareware?
  36.   ------------------

  38.   Shareware  programs  are in most respects similar to  Public  Domain.   Once
  39.   again,  our charges are for our services and no charge is made by us for the
  40.   programs on the disk.  They are not however, free.  Shareware is provided on
  41.   a  "try  before  you buy" basis.   Shareware  programs  are  for  evaluation
  42.   purposes  only.   If you continue to use a program on a regular  basis,  you
  43.   MUST pay the required registration fee to the author.  Often you get a later
  44.   version  of  the program,  a printed manual or a password giving  access  to
  45.   extra features within the program.   Sometimes you get nothing extra at all.
  46.   Full  details of the registration fee,  where to send it and what  (if  any)
  47.   extras registered users get, is all contained either within the main program
  48.   or within a text file on disk.   You are obliged to register the product  if
  49.   you  continue  to use it.   Full details of how long you can use  it  before
  50.   registering  are also found on the disk.   You may give copies of  Shareware
  51.   disks  to  your friends but they too must register with the author  if  they
  52.   continue using the program.

  54.   Mono and Colour
  55.   ---------------

  57.   When  we refer to mono or monochrome in the catalogue this means   that  the
  58.   program will only run on an Atari SM124 or SM125 monitor.   It does NOT mean
  59.   that it will run on a black and white TV!  Disks  which are exclusively mono
  60.   have "M" directly after the catalogue number i.e.  UTL.10M.  Disks which are
  61.   exclusively  colour  have "C"  directly after their  catalogue  number  i.e.
  62.   GAM.10C.  Disks  which  do not  have "C" or "M" after  the catalogue  number
  63.   either  work  in  colour and mono or some programs work  in  one  resolution
  64.   whilst others  work in another resolution.  Where a disk is mono only it can
  65.   USUALLY   but  NOT  ALWAYS be run using  one of our many mono  emulators  on
  66.   UTL.3655.

  68.   TOS Versions
  69.   ------------

  71.   If  a   program (or disk) is incompatible with one or more versions  of  TOS
  72.   this  will  be  mentioned  in the  catalogue.  TOS  versions  are  generally
  73.   downwardly  compatible so if a program does not work on a specified  version
  74.   of TOS,  it is unlikely that it will work on a later version.

  76.   DISCLAIMER

  79.   In the unlikely event of any damage being caused to equipment as a direct or
  80.   indirect  result  of  using  any software  in  this  catalogue  or  carrying
  81.   out any hardware modifications as detailed on any of the  disks,  Floppyshop
  82.   will not be held responsible.  This is because the software itself is  being
  83.   supplied  free of charge (our charges are in respect of our services  only).
  84.   If you don't agree with this disclaimer don't order software from  us.  Upon
  85.   placing your order, you are deemed to have accepted the above. Sorry if this
  86.   sounds a bit stern,  we're very friendly people (honest!),  we just have  to
  87.   protect ourselves legally.

  89.   VIRUS FREE
  90.   ----------

  92.   Floppyshop  disks  are guaranteed free from all known  Viruses  (both   boot
  93.   sector  and link).  We currently put our own Anti-Virus onto most  disks  in
  94.   the  collection.  This means that your disk boots up with a  message  saying
  95.   "Floppyshop  Anti-Virus etc".  The Floppyshop Anti-Virus is guaranteed  100%
  96.   safe on ALL disks as it does not duplicate itself. If your monitor beeps and
  97.   flashes  after you access a disk then it has an executable boot  sector.  It
  98.   may be perfectly harmless or it may be a Virus. If this happens please check
  99.   out  the  disk  with a good Virus Killer program such as Richard Karsmakers'
  100.   UVK. Regrettably some of the other Virus Killer programs also think that the
  101.   Floppyshop Anti-Virus is a Virus!  I can assure you that it is NOT.  It  was
  102.   specially commissioned by  Floppyshop as  a  deterrent  to  prevent  Viruses
  103.   spreading  through your disk collection.
